What is an orthodontist?

A British trained Specialist Orthodontist is a highly trained professional who has completed a five-year university degree and is thus a fully qualified Dentist/Dental Surgeon. They then worked in various branches of dentistry to gain a broad working knowledge and experience of its different fields; and then completed an approved three-year full-time university and hospital postgraduate orthodontic training programme, to become an Orthodontic Specialist. Orthodontists are uniquely qualified in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of orthodontic problems.

What is your practice acceptance policy?

Children under 18 are accepted for NHS orthodontic treatment if they meet the strict government criteria (IoTN). Adults are accepted for orthodontic treatment on a self funding basis and can self refer themselves or alternatively they can be referred from their own Dentist.
